Before you begin

US crochet terms. You’ll need scissors and a yarn needle. Skills: chain and single crochet. Turning chains do not count as stitches.

Suggested gauge: 16 single crochet stitches and 18 rows per 10 cm. Gauge is flexible for these projects; size and yarn usage will vary with your tension.

Make it, step by step

  1. Chain 17.
  2. Row 1: single crochet in the second chain from the hook and each chain across (16 stitches).
  3. Chain 1 and turn.
  4. Rows 2–18: single crochet in every stitch (16 stitches).
  5. Chain 1 and turn after each row except the last.
  6. Fasten off and weave in ends.
  7. Block flat.

A little finishing touch

Choose your own colour and check your stitch count at the end of every row. Follow the yarn label for washing and care.
